Some Tips for Using

Redeemer At Home

Let’s face it: none of us come to “scattered at-home worship services during Covid” as a pro. We’re all beginners. There’s going to be some uncertainty and even awkwardness. That’s okay. We can laugh. We can grow. We can learn together.

That said, here are a few tips to get you started:

  1. Zoom it up. Feel free to ask others to go through the service together online.
  2. Split up the parts. Before you jump into the liturgy, divvy out who will lead each section.
  3. Look it up. If you’re unfamiliar with one of the elements, there are brief explanations off to the right side.
  4. Sing along. We know you probably don’t sing along with your computer too often, but we believe worship is meant to be embodied and participatory. So join in!

  • Before prayer, take a moment to consider the tensions v. 13 creates for you. Does it bring comfort and hope to know that God is working in you through his good will and good pleasure? Does it create confusion when the “good will and good pleasure” of God don’t result in things looking the way you’d hope? 
  • In prayer, bring the tensions of v. 13 to God. Ask him to help grow your trust when his “good will and good pleasure” don’t align with your longings. Thank God for his ability to see beyond the current moments that capture our focus. 
  • Ask God to lead you to creatively and courageously embody the grace that he has worked into you. Pray for one specific way you can embody the love of God to a neighbor or friend.

Some Tips for Using

Redeemer At Home

Let’s face it: none of us come to “scattered at-home worship services during Covid” as a pro. We’re all beginners. There’s going to be some uncertainty and even awkwardness. That’s okay. We can laugh. We can grow. We can learn together.

That said, here are a few tips to get you started:

  1. Zoom it up. Feel free to ask others to go through the service together online.
  2. Split up the parts. Before you jump into the liturgy, divvy out who will lead each section.
  3. Look it up. If you’re unfamiliar with one of the elements, there are brief explanations off to the right side.
  4. Sing along. We know you probably don’t sing along with your computer too often, but we believe worship is meant to be embodied and participatory. So join in!

Prayer is simply conversation with God. Our worship is filled with prayer as we seek to know and delight in our Father.

Philippians 1:12-18

I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.

Reflective Prayer

Take a few minutes to write out or discuss with your household the circumstances in your life that are most difficult to find joy amid.

In prayer:

  • Ask God to help you remember that he is bringing redemption to all things
  • Thank Jesus for the comfort of his nearness to you in the frustrations and difficulties you mentioned earlier
  • Ask that God would make himself known through these challenging circumstances — to you and to those around you
  • Thank Jesus for the joy of being tethered to him amidst the difficulties of this life
