“We only know that the Lord has us;
we do not know where he will take us.”
— Paige Brown
Welcome
...
If you are new to Redeemer or would simply like to connect more to this community, let us know below. We'd love to share more about this church and get to know you better.
Preparation
As a household, give yourselves a few moments to settle in. Take a few deep breaths. Check-in with yourself/household: name the thoughts that are filling your mind in this moment.
Take a few more deep breaths.
Now be reminded of our all-satisfying God in this call to worship.
Call to Worship
Psalm 34:8
O taste and see that the Lord is good;
happy are those who take refuge in him.
...
In the Bible, God invites us to worship because it is not our natural impulse to come to Him. Still He calls, reminding us of His pursuing love. May we respond out of gratitude.
Opening Prayer
God, silence all voices within our minds but your own.
Help us see the beauty and goodness of your will,
so that by your Spirit we might learn to follow you as Jesus did.
Amen.
...
Prayer is simply conversation with God. Our worship is filled with prayer as we seek to know and delight in our Father.
Song of Praise
Verse 1
What gift of grace is Jesus my redeemer
There is no more for heaven now to give
He is my joy, my righteousness, and freedom
My steadfast love, my deep and boundless peace
To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus
For my life is wholly bound to his
Oh how strange and divine, I can sing: all is mine!
Yet not I, but through Christ in me
Verse 2
The night is dark but I am not forsaken
For by my side, the Savior He will stay
I labor on in weakness and rejoicing
For in my need, His power is displayed
To this I hold, my Shepherd will defend me
Through the deepest valley He will lead
Oh the night has been won, and I shall overcome!
Yet not I, but through Christ in me
Verse 3
No fate I dread, I know I am forgiven
The future sure, the price it has been paid
For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon
And He was raised to overthrow the grave
To this I hold, my sin has been defeated
Jesus now and ever is my plea
Oh the chains are released, I can sing: I am free!
Yet not I, but through Christ in me
Verse 4
With every breath I long to follow Jesus
For He has said that He will bring me home
And day by day I know He will renew me
Until I stand with joy before the throne
To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus
All the glory evermore to Him
When the race is complete, still my lips shall repeat:
Yet not I, but through Christ in me! (Repeat)

Music at Redeemer seeks to remind us of the beauties of the Lord and express our deepest emotions: joy and praise, sadness and anger, love and gratitude, fear and hope. We sing because we believe God is the greatest hero and joy the world has ever known. He is mighty enough to receive cosmic praise, and tender enough to handle our most fragile whimpers and hurts.
Prayer of Confession
Before you begin, remember that the Father already extends his forgiveness and smiling love through Jesus. There is nothing left to earn. All that remains is to receive.
Heavenly Father,
as your beloved sons and daughters,
we come to you grateful for your grace
and in need of your ongoing mercy.
Forgive us for judging quickly and forgiving slowly.
Forgive our grace-less words and selfish deeds.
Forgive us for denying our hurts and neglecting your joys.
Teach us to find unsurpassing delight in you and your ways,
and by your Spirit, enable us to live in them.
We pray this in the name of Jesus, the living and reigning king.
Amen.
[Take a moment to reflect and confess silently]
...
This prayer helps us bring the most shame-filled parts of our hearts and lives to Jesus. Although God already knows everything about us, when we confess to him our wrong, we experience afresh his unending forgiveness and welcome.
Assurance of Grace
based on 1 Timothy 1:15 & I Peter 2:24
Lift your heads and your hearts and receive this good news:
This saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, that we might be dead to sin, and alive to all that is good.
Know that through Christ, you are forgiven. And through His Spirit, you are being made more and more alive to all that is good.
...
The assurance is a powerful reminder that God always has grace for the wayward. He never leaves us in our sin. For all who trust in Jesus, this grace is assuredly and undoubtedly yours. Sin is not powerful enough to sway God's love and grace for you.
Song of Trust
Verse:
Who breaks the power of sin and darkness?
Whose love is mighty and so much stronger?
The King of Glory, the King above all kings
Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder
And leaves us breathless in awe and wonder?
The King of Glory, the King above all kings
Chorus:
This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross
You laid down Your life
That I would be set free
Oh, Jesus, I sing for
All that You've done for me
Verse:
Who brings our chaos back into order?
Who makes the orphan a son and daughter?
The King of Glory, the King of Glory
Who rules the nations with truth and justice
Shines like the sun in all of its brilliance?
The King of Glory, the King above all kings
Chorus:
This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross
You laid down Your life
That I would be set free
Oh, Jesus, I sing for
All that You've done for me
Bridge:
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy, worthy, worthy
Chorus:
This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross
You laid down Your life
That I would be set free
Oh, Jesus, I sing for
All that You've done for me

Scripture Set-up
Justin previews what it means to be anchored in grace.
...
For centuries, Christians have gathered to hear God's word preached, explained, and applied. We believe the word of God contained in the Bible are words of life, joy, and true freedom.
Scripture
Titus 3:4-8
But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people.
...
Since the earliest days of Christianity, followers of Jesus have read Scripture as part of their worship. We believe God meets us in His word and that we are people who need to be shaped by this encounter.
Reflection
Take an extended time to prayerfully ponder and apply this passage. If you're with others, share your responses together. Feel free to journal or draw your thoughts and emotions.
Take a few moments to meditate on the reality of grace described in Titus 3:4-8. God is motivated to love you because of who he is, not what you have done. His enjoyment of you and love for you is anchored in his goodness, not your own. How does it feel to know you’re loved and wanted at that level? How does this gracious pursuit of you re-narrate the stories you believe about yourself?
What would it look, feel, sound, or taste like for you to embody grace towards a ‘neighbor’ this week? Discuss with your household or write down one specific person and one specific expression of grace.
Take a moment to thank God for this grace, and to strengthen you as you embody it towards a neighbor.
...
For centuries, Christians have found a variety of ways to slow down and consider God and His word. Especially if this is an unfamiliar practice, we encourage you try being present in this way, asking the Holy Spirit to fill the sacred moment.
Song of Reflection
Listen to this song that meditates on the un-earnability of God's grace.
Verse:
Not what my hands have done can save my guilty soul
Not what my toiling flesh has borne can make my spirit whole
Not what I feel or do can give me peace with God
Not all my prayers and sighs and tears can bear my awful load
Chorus
These guilty hands are raised, filthy rags are all I bring
And I have come to hide beneath Your wings
These holy hands are raised, washed in the fountain of Your grace
And now I wear Your righteousness!
Verse:
Thy work alone O Christ can ease this weight of sin
Thy blood alone O Lamb of God can give me peace within
Thy love to me O God, not mine O Lord to thee
Can rid me of this dark unrest and set my spirit free
Chorus
These guilty hands are raised, filthy rags are all I bring
And I have come to hide beneath Your wings
These holy hands are raised, washed in the fountain of Your grace
And now I wear Your righteousness!
Verse:
Thy grace alone O God to me can pardon speak
Thy power alone O Lamb of God can this sore bondage break
No other work save Thine, no other blood will do
No strength but that which is divine can bear me safely through!
Chorus
These guilty hands are raised, filthy rags are all I bring
And I have come to hide beneath Your wings
These holy hands are raised, washed in the fountain of Your grace
And now I wear Your righteousness
And now I wear Your righteousness
And now I wear Your righteousness
Bridge:
Now these holy hands are raised, washed in the fountain of Your grace
Holy hands are raised, washed in the fountain of Your grace
Holy hands are raised, washed in the fountain of Your grace
For I wear your righteousness
Verse:
I praise the God of grace, I trust His truth and might
He calls me His, I call Him mine; my God, my joy, my light
My Lord has saved my life and freely pardon gives
I love because He first loved me, I live be cause He lives

Benediction
Numbers 6: 24-26
Open your ears to hear and your heart to receive these words of God's blessing:
The Lord bless you and keep you: the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you: the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
...
God gets the final word of our service—and it is one of grace. Receive this blessing from the mouth and heart of our Father.
